In this meeting of the new Carolina Teaching and Learning Colloquium (CTLC) series, Dr. Elizabeth J. Marsh from Duke University will present on "Correcting student errors: Linking the laboratory and the classroom." Students make mistakes: they misremember and misunderstand, and sometimes are even encouraged to make errors as part of the learning process. Uncorrected mistakes can persist, meaning that feedback is one of the most powerful tools in the teacher’s toolbox. This talk will discuss the large laboratory literature on how and when to deliver feedback, with an emphasis on translation to educational settings. Sponsored by the Center for Faculty Excellence, Dept of Psychology and Neuroscience, and Carolina Seminars.
