Engaged Experiential Education:

To enhance student learning and support communities

What:          A summit for campus engagement* units and community partners

Place:          Carolina Club, George Watts Hill Alumni Center

Date:           Friday, Feb. 10, 2017

Time:          8:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Summit Goals:

• Learn about campus experiential education offerings for undergraduate, graduate and professional students,
• Share successful practices for experiential education that engage students, faculty and staff with community partners, and
• Provide networking opportunities with other campus engagement units and community partners.                 

Centers, institutes, schools, departments and student organizations are encouraged to send teams of up to three participants. Teams may represent overall units or specific efforts within a unit. Schools and other large units may send multiple teams. Each team is encouraged to include a community partner involved in their efforts.

The program will include:

• keynote address by a nationally recognized expert in the field of experiential education,
• presentations on successful models for undergraduate, graduate and professional student experiential education, and
• roundtable discussions on how the University could better support and enhance experiential education on campus and with communities.

There is no registration fee and lunch is provided. Because the agenda is dependent on the full participation of attendees, participants are expected to attend for the entire summit.

9 - 9:15 a.m.                  Welcome and Opening Remarks from Provost James W. Dean, Jr.

9:15 - 10:25 a.m.            Undergraduate Models of Engaged Experiential Education

10:25 - 10:45 a.m.          Break and Poster Session

10:45 - 11:55 a.m.          Graduate and Professional Models of Engaged Experiential Education

11:55 a.m. - 12:40 p.m.   Roundtable Discussions

12:45 - 2 pm                   Luncheon & Keynote Speaker: Tania Mitchell from University of Minnesota
