LGBT+ rights advocates used simple freedom- and love-based messages that were easily disseminated through social media to help convince a majority of U.S. residents that same-sex couples should have the right to marry. This presentation will examine how those same strategies are being deployed by marriage equality opponents who are using freedom of religion arguments to avoid providing marriage-related services to gay and lesbian couples.

Presented by Dr. Rhonda Gibson, Associate Professor, School of Media and Journalism
