Since December 2016, the Carolina Center for Public Service partnered with the North Carolina Conference of the United Methodist Church (NCCUMC) to support Hurricane Matthew disaster relief efforts in some of the hardest hit areas of our state-Princeville, Lumberton and Fayetteville.
In June, NCCUMC launched an Adopt-a-Home program to extend help to displaced families in Lumberton. They are seeking organizational partners to help get families back into their homes. Mr. Gary Locklear, the coordinator of NCCUMC's Adopt-a-Home program, will be on campus to share an update of the devastation that resulted from Hurricane Matthew, report on recovery efforts to date, and describe the Adopt-a-Home program and the process for adopting a family. The Adopt-a-Home program is an opportunity for our Carolina community to help with volunteer labor and donations for the purchase of furniture, appliances and home furnishings.
