Navigating the Complexity of Gender in the Workplace II: Mahzarin R. Banaji and Anthony G. Greenwald in their book, Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People, use data from their Implicit Association Test study to describe the normalcy and impact of unconscious bias and implicit associations on our everyday decision-making processes. Despite more than 50 years in the white-collar workplace, women continue to face challenges based on gender stereotypes and expectations which undermining their workplace wellbeing and satisfaction.
This workshop complements a session by the same title from last semester. It will review information about implicit biases and focus on role playing and other interactive strategies to positively disrupt assumptions and to interrupt gender-based bias directed at female and female-identified faculty and professional staff. Participants do not have to have attended the first session to attend this session. Graduate students are also welcome.
The first 20 to register will received a free copy of Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People!
