Involving Undergraduates in Engaged Research

Participants will gain insight from faculty about successful strategies for involving undergraduate students in engaged research.

This session will introduce:

Donna Bickford, associate director of the Office for Undergraduate Research, will facilitate a faculty panel discussing how they work with undergraduates through embedding research in courses, advising and mentoring students on independent projects and/or supervising them as research assistants or interns.

Panelists include:

Frank R. Baumgartner, Richard J. Richardson Distinguished Professor, Political Science

Barbara G. Friedman, Associate Professor, Journalism

David Salvesen, Deputy Director, Center for Sustainable Community Design and Director of the Sustainable Triangle Field Site, Institute for the Environment

Coffee, tea and bagels will be provided beginning at 8:45 a.m. and the presentation will begin at 9 a.m.
