UNC is uniquely well positioned to leverage both the strengths of its researchers and its comprehensive Health Care System to develop research related to Precision Medicine.  We will host a symposium and workshop for Fall 2017 to define the main areas of our efforts.  The event will have opening plenary sessions to highlight exemplar projects and provide some information about potential funding.  Following this plenary, several working groups will initiate conversations and catalyze the development of precision medicine proposals specifically related to:

• Data translations and informatics with respect to the environment and impact on health.

• Health Care System and Informatics.  Using Informatics to address systematic health care questions with the goal of reducing recidivism by logistical assistance and mobile outpatient care.

 • Genomics and the Promise of Personalized Medicine.

• Determinants of Drug Efficacy. Biological determinants of Drug Efficacy and toxicity; personal pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics.
