Please join us on Sunday, October 5, 2014 for a full-day Symposium entitled, “Complex Persistent Pain Conditions:  Common and Unique Pathways of Vulnerability.”  This event will take place the day preceding the opening of the 15th World Congress on Pain in Buenos Aires, Argentina (October 6-11) and is co-sponsored by the following Special Interest Groups (SIGs):  Orofacial; Genetics; and Sex and Gender.

Registration to the Symposium offers many benefits:  opportunity for networking and discussion throughout the day with speakers and attendees; presentation materials and resources; and, for those attending, early arrival and settling in prior to the start of the week-long World Congress.

** SEATING IS LIMITED TO 200 - REGISTER EARLY **

The Program
The Symposium features internationally recognized clinicians, psychophysiologists, geneticists, and epidemiologists who will present and discuss the “mosaic” of factors underlying complex persistent pain conditions (CPPCs), findings of overlap, and emerging methods to identify individuals at risk of developing one or more chronic pain conditions.

Moderated by Dr. William Maixner, Director of the Center for Pain Research and Innovation at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (USA), presentations will be around a unifying theme that “genetic and molecular mechanisms, coupled with environment exposures, contribute to complex signs and symptoms that define subpopulations within and between CPPCs.”  Two primary features to be emphasized are that:  etiologies of CPPCs are multifactorial; and clinical manifestations of CPPCs are diverse.  To view speakers and topics visit the SIG webpage:
