Date/Time | 03/07/2017 12:00 PM - 1:15 PM |
How do instructors decide if/when to discuss their politics or values with students? How do they successfully manage any subsequent dialogue?
This workshop is designed to help graduate students reflect upon how they negotiate the intersections of their personal and professional identities in their classrooms. We will unpack a case study together and discuss a recent op-ed from the New York Times. Near the end of the session, several experienced discussants will respond to themes emerging from the earlier conversation and share strategies that have been effective for them in their teaching.
Registration is limited to current UNC graduate students.
Lunch will be served.
