CREATE, a new initiative at the Kenan Institute of Private Enterprise, the UNC School of Law are co-hosting a "Closing the Wealth Gap" Conference on November 6-7, 2019 at UNC Chapel Hill.

This event is the culmination of a 3-part series in which thought leaders from different disciplines present to academic researchers, students, and community members on the ever-increasing wealth gap of the United States, and its ramifications for U.S. prosperity. The conference will cover a range of topics, including consequences of wealth inequities in America, the role of community investors in closing the wealth gap, practices of other countries with more narrow wealth gaps, the role of policy, places and technology in closing the wealth gap and, finally, solutions to addressing this problem. This conference is an interdisciplinary forum organized, in part, by graduate students from the UNC School of Law, the Gillings School of Global Public Health, the UNC School of Social Work, and the Kenan-Flagler Business School.
