This workshop will discuss and demonstrate over 100 assistive technology solutions that can be fabricated in minutes using every day tools and materials - without the need for power tools, hardware or glue. In addition, participants will work in teams and fabricate an assortment of assistive technology solutions to take back to their classrooms and communities.
Dr. Willkomm, PhD, ATP, is known nationally and internationally as the MacGyver of Assistive Technology for her fast and innovative approach using every day materials to create thousands of solutions. She has invented over 1,200 different AT solutions including 50 different iPad solutions for people with disabilities. Dr. Willkomm has authored 22 publications including two books on "Assistive Technology Solutions in Minutes - using Ordinary Items to Create Extraordinary Solutions". Dr. Willkomm holds a PhD in Rehabilitation Science and Technology and is the director of New Hampshire's statewide Assistive Technology program. She is also a clinical associate professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of New Hampshire and oversees the graduate certificate program in assistive technology at UNH.
