The Biochemistry and Biophysics Department will hold its 2021 research retreat VIRTUALLY on March 26, 2021. 
 
The 2021 retreat will have a keynote presentation, short talks from graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and research associates selected from abstract submissions as well as two poster sessions. Cash Prizes ($100 each) will be given for top oral, poster, and people's choice presentations!
 
Registration is free.
 
Posters will be presented electronically in a virtual poster hall. Each poster presenter will be also able to include a 5-minute video (PowerPoint) presentation to accompany their poster. This will be a great way for you to engage with retreat attendees for feedback and discussion.
 
There will be mentorship breakout sessions on these topics: Finding a postdoc, Applying for tenure-track positions, Women in science & Non-academic careers. There will be a limited number of slots for these breakout sessions, so be sure to register early!
 
Keynote speaker, Dr. Cigail Kadoch will be giving the keynote at this year's retreat at 3:30pm entitled "Chromatin regulatory mechanisms and therapeutic prospects in cancer."

Abstract Deadline is 2/26. (Late submissions will not be considered for short talks so get your abstracts in on time!) Abstracts submission link https://www.med.unc.edu/biochem/ 
 
Oral presentations notification: 3/02.
Retreat registration deadline: 3/12. (Late registration cut off date and time is 3/24 12:30 pm).
 
Poster/video upload deadline: 3/19. (Presentation videos uploads will be welcomed through 3/25. **Update** Please deposit a pre-recorded video at this location: https://www.dropbox.com/request/oW3e1YQ4DCqfXH76fs5S
In addition to the posters, everyone will be able to include a 5-min. pre-recorded poster overview video, highlighting the key points & takeaways for your poster. These pre-recorded PPT presentations will be an excellent way to generate interest in your work and recruit attendees to your "live" poster presentation during the day of the retreat.  More information about submitting the posters and videos will be forthcoming.
