Between 1450 and 1867 at least 12 million men women and children were torn from their homeland and forcibly enslaved. They were transported to the Americas and as a result, transformed the history of the modern world. This course is designed to give the participant a deeper understanding of the complexities surrounding the transatlantic slave trade. The class will explore the origins, the geography, the divergent interests, the economics and finally the abolition of the slave trade and its unintended consequences.

*Course start date subject to change pending minimum enrollment.
