Academic Faculty Job Search Panel (UNC grad students and post-docs) Return to listing


co-hosted by the Graduate School, the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs, Training Initiatives in Biological and Biomedical Science (TIBBS), and University Career Services, as well as student groups, Academic and Research Intensive Career Association (ARIC) and Future Science Educators (FuSE)

PhD and postdoctoral trainees will hear from new and seasoned faculty on a range of academic job search topics, including

  •     What separates successful candidates from the rest of the pack
  •     Tips for up and coming future faculty members
  •     How to choose an institution that is a good fit for you
  •     Unexpected challenges encountered

Both a STEM-focused panel and a Humanities/Social Sciences-focused panel will be offered.  The event format will include a 60-minute panel presentation with Q&A facilitated by student leaders on campus, followed by a 30-minute active-networking period of round-table discussions and informal networking.
