Marcy Boynton, PhD, is an assistant professor in the UNC Gillings School of Global Public Health, Department of Health Behavior and is a behavioral health researcher with expertise in health decision-making theory and complex survey designs. Overall, Dr. Boynton's work has a strong emphasis on the multidimensional nature of health behavior, with a particular interest in stress and coping processes and health disparities.

In collaboration with Joseph Lee, PhD, Assistant Professor at East Carolina University, Dr. Boynton conducts work examining the etiology of tobacco disparities in the LGBTQIA community to inform the development of culturally appropriate tobacco cessation interventions.
