Dr. Rachael Turner (UNC PhD in BME, 2011) is a Senior Scientist at BD Technologies in Research Triangle Park and Recruitment Lead for BD's Technology Leadership Development Program (TLDP), a type of industry postdoc. As a graduate student at UNC, she developed a prototype for an artifiicial liver. She was one of the first to earn an HHMI-sponsored Certificate in Translational Medicine. After graduation, she became a TLDP fellow in the Cell and Tissue Technology division of BD. Dr. Turner will talk about her transition from graduate school to industry, and how UNC grad students can apply for the TLDP. Dr. Turner will be available for a brief networking reception with interested students from 12:45-1:00 in the lobby outside Bioinformatics 1131.
