Green Zone is for faculty, staff, and students who wish to learn more about the military affiliated student experience. The goals are to train members of the Carolina community to know more about the issues and concerns faced by military-affiliated students and to identify individuals who are available to assist this population. Upon completion, participants will be able to lend a sympathetic ear and help the student-veteran identify and connect with the appropriate resources. Participants who complete the training will receive a sign to display in their office and have their name listed on our website as having completed the training.

Green Zone will now be offered in a hybrid design. The training will be composed of two sections. Part I will be completed via asynchronous learning through PsycArmor and Part II will be conducted in a Zoom session during the scheduled time.

Part I - PsycArmor

Please complete the two training modules: "Veteran 101: DOD Overview" and "15 things Veterans would like you to know." You will need to create an account, we have arranged for all UNC affiliates to receive the training for free. This section of the training should take roughly one hour to complete and you can finish it at your own pace. Please email me your to certificate of completion once you have finished the training to remain enrolled in the synchronous portion of the class. The website offers more training modules, however, you only need to complete these two modules.

Part II - Zoom

The second part of the training will be delivered virtually and will include three sections: PsycArmor modules reflection, UNC specific programs and data, and a student panel where you can ask current students about their experiences transitioning from the military to UNC.

If you have any issues completing the requirements, please let me know. Your engagement and patience is appreciated as we introduce this new training format.
