Green Zone is for faculty, staff, and students who wish to learn more about the military affiliated student experience. Its goals are to train members of the Carolina community to know more about the issues and concerns faced by military-affiliated students and to identify individuals who are available to assist this population. Upon completion, participants will be able to lend a sympathy ear and help the student-veteran identify and connect with the appropriate resources. Participants who complete the training will receive a sign to display in their office and have their name listed on our website as having completed the training.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:

Due to the regulations set in place by the university the Green Zone training taking place on April 30th will now be offered via a hybrid design. The training will be composed of two section, part one will be completed by you asynchronous through PsycArmour and par two will take place on Zoom at the scheduled time.

Part 1 - PsycArmour

Please complete the two training modules: "Veteran 101: DOD Overview" and "15 things Veterans would like you to know." You will need to create an account, we have arranged for all UNC affiliated people to receive the training for free. This section of the training should take roughly one hour to complete and you can finish it at your own convenience. Please email me your to certificate of completion upon completion of the training to remain enrolled in the synchronous portion of the class. The website offers more training modules, however, you only need to complete these two modules.

Part 2 - Zoom

The second part of the training will take place over zoom and will include three sections: reflection on the PsyArmour training, UNC specific programs and data, and a student panel where you can ask current students about their experiences transitioning from the military to UNC.

Thank you all for remaining patient while we worked through the logistics of the training. This is the first time we have offered the training in this format. If you run into any issues completing the requirements, please feel free to reach out to me and I will do my best to resolve the problems.
