This full day interactive workshop for audiologists will include discussion of several unbundled billing models and give examples regarding ways one might incorporate these models into clinical practice. Evidence from different clinical practices will be shared to demonstrate that this model can be successful across many clinical settings. The UNC Hearing and Communication Center has successfully utilized an unbundled model for the past six years. Data will be shared which will illustrate a significant increase in clinical revenue following the move to an unbundled billing model. Stephanie Sjoblad, Au.D and Barbara Winslow Warren, Au.D will discuss the move to an unbundled model and share the tools needed to make this successful transition across clinical settings. Our special guest, Deb Abel, Au.D is the reimbursement specialist for the American Academy of Audiology will have a wealth of information to share. She will present an interactive session on how to code, bill and maximize your insurance reimbursement for hearing aid services. Attendees will learn how to formulate a superbill with the appropriate codes to maximize reimbursement. Registration fee is per attendee.
Registration Details: There will be no on-site registration allowed. A cancellation fee of $75.00 will be charge if the registrant cancels on or before the 21st of November 2011. The full registration fee will be withheld if cancellation occurs after November 21st 2011. Registration closes on Monday, November 28th and payment must be received prior to the close of business on December 1st to participate. Space is limited.
This one-day workshop will be worth 0.6 CEUs (6 hours of Continuing Education will be submitted for approval to ASHA and AAA - ABA Tier 1 hours available).
Learner Outcomes:
AM Session: Billing Models for Hearing Aid Services à Sjoblad and Warren
1. Participants will be able to describe the differences between a bundled and unbundled hearing aid pricing model.
2. Participants will be able to calculate the cost of doing business and complete a break even analysis to establish fees.
3. Participants will be able to demonstrate the appropriate use of CPT and HCPCS codes on the superbill for hearing aid dispensing services.
PM Session: Reimbursement for Hearing Aid Servicesà Abel
1. Participants will demonstrate the use of the appropriate codes to maximize hearing aid reimbursement when filing claims to third party payors.
2. Participants will be able to describe essential considerations in contract negotiations for hearing aid related services
3. Participants will be able to interpret a contract for hearing aid related services.
