Through an analysis of multiple gay dating platforms, Parker argues that the relationship between networked media and surveillance compromises these media, placing users at risk of violence. This complicates their role within a long lineage of tools for queer experimentation and identity development, even as they offer unprecedented access to a queer network.

Presented by Zachary Parker, Doctoral Candidate in Communications

This event will be an hour, with 40 minutes of lecture and 20 minutes for Q&A. Light refreshments will be served.
