The TraCS Institute announces a 1-week course titled “Introduction to Study Design and Strategies for Data Analysis.”  This course is intended as an introduction to statistical terms, methodologies and analysis strategies most commonly used in clinical/translational research.   There will also be two days where part of the day will be focused on reading the peer-reviewed literature and evaluating the choice of study designs and issues related to analysis.  The goal is that participants will understand the necessary vocabulary and fundamental concepts they can then use to communicate with biostatisticians.

The course will be held July 16-20 from 8 am – 12 pm each day in Bioinformatics 1131.  A call-in option using Skype for Business is also available.

Course content:

1.       Basic study designs used in clinical/translational research

2.       Overview of Statistical methodology- definitions and examples

3.       Introduction to analysis strategies- which statistical methods are appropriate for various types of data
