AOWS10: Connecting Children to History

(Elementary focus)

This class is designed for elementary teachers who are looking for new ways to connect their young students to history. Creativity will abound in your classroom as you begin to use the inquiry method with your students. In this class you will learn how to locate primary and secondary sources and create lessons that will have your students connecting the past to the future by questioning, exploring and researching the real thing! Learners will explore the America on the World Stage- Hands on History Library to review lessons created by teachers and develop new lessons to be shared with all class participants. Participants will also investigate learning modules through the Library of Congress and learn how to use the resources available to educators. Think beyond the textbook and challenge your students, by making your classroom a creative one!

*Course start date subject to change pending minimum enrollment.

Please contact LEARN NC Executive Director, Andy Mink (mink@unc.edu) for special individual and/or school package pricing.
